Workout clothes, undergarments (I've decided my tanks count as undergarments since I never wear them on their own), and at-home lounge wear don't count towards your total--BUT, you can't wear those things as part of your regular wardrobe at all! I chose one drawer for those items and put all my other non-capsule clothes in the other drawers and hanging in a different part of my closet. Currently, I have 46 items in my capsule and most of these will be in my winter capsule as well, which is why I was less concerned with the number being right around 37 this season.

I chose one drawer for those items and put all my other non-capsule clothes in the other drawers and hanging in a different part of my closet. Currently, I have 44 items in my capsule, but I am reusing most items from past capsules or using hand-me-down pieces from my sister, so I wasn't too worried about the number being right at 37. I've only purchased four new items for my winter capsule, and I'm hoping I won't have to purchase any new sizes of things until spring.
